A lovely example of the sought-after ‘Empress’ design touring limousine, which has been loved and very well cared for & this shows in the way the car is today. Was in the Lyons family from new until 1986, and since then has been well maintained, as evidenced by the file of documents which are included. The rear compartment is particularly well-appointed, with a comprehensive vanity set, cocktail cabinet and side-facing occasional seat built into the division. Beige leather front & rear, and superb woodwork.  Recently fitted with a new set of Dunlop tyres, and MoT tested until May 2011. A fabulous car.

Chassis No. DLW25.                             Reg No. XFO 840.                            £47,500.

Snippets:  Finance & Philanthropy

Ordered by S. H. Lyons of Alexandre Ltd, a men’s clothing manufacturer which in the 1950’s was asked to restore the fortunes of the United Draper Store.  Sir Isidore “Jack” Lyons sold Alexandre Ltd to UDS in a reverse takeover for £2m and the enlarged group was run by him until his retirement in 1980.  Sir Jack Lyons then became the UK consultant to Bain & Co, whose largest client was Guinness Distillers which became embroiled in a major share-fixing scandal resulting in Jack Lyons losing his knighthood.
