A well-built tourer, we think built in the 1970s, very appropriate, handsome and practical. The coachwork is really well constructed, strong yet relatively lightweight, the doors close with a lovely ‘click’, and it is cosmetically just right.  The last owner covered something like 12,000 miles over the last year or so, including continental touring, so the car is well ‘tried & tested’, reliable, and ready for the next adventure. Being a four wheel brake example, the car can be driven with confidence, and this, along with adjustable rake windscreen, rear ‘auster’ screen, correct lamps, straight-sided tyres (including twin side mounts), wheel discs, three piece tonneau cover, etc, etc, all add to the appeal. MoT tested until November 2010. Fascinating history (see below). A lovely car.

Chassis No. 82EM.                                 Reg No. EE 5220.                              £145,000.

Snippets Ordered by D H Bloomer for display in the British Empire Exhibition the car was later owned by Jack Savage (1891-1945) who was a flying pioneer & is credited as inventing Sky-writing!  For some years Jack owned & operated the largest British civil airfleet in campaigns throughout the Americas, India, Australia & Europe. Prior to WWII he founded Savage & Parsons Ltd & he invented, designed & manufactured searchlights, sound locators, aircraft control gears amongst many other items.  In the early 1960s the car was owned by Fairfax Guy Wade-Palmer whose father-in-law supplied steel to Rolls-Royce.  At this stage 82EM was sporting a shooting-brake body, in 1962 the car was fitted with an authentic WWI armoured car body & used in the film “Lawrence of Arabia”, Lawrence had stated that a unit of 9 armoured Rolls-Royces were “more valuable than rubies”.
