A fabulously correct, elegant, undisturbed, sound and original example, which needs gentle and careful preservation to remain in its current condition. The car is very appealing indeed as a candidate for conservation class at RREC gatherings, and to hold up as an example of the way these cars used to be. Old paint, original leather & carpets all add to the attraction of this car, as does the very impressive and full toolkit in the boot. The engine runs smoothly, but the car now needs re-commissioning after a period of idleness, which is something we intend to do here. A rare opportunity. Chassis No. 3BT93. £75,000. Snippets:
Underwear & Underlay Ordered
by George Spencer, an astute businessman who started his first dyeing &
hosiery factory in 1902. Within a few years the Vedonis company was
one of the main employers in Lutterworth & their very modern adverts for
Vedonis undergarments featured in such publications as the Radio Times
& Daily Mail. The
second owner, Sir Esme Tatton Cecil Brinton (Brinton Carpets) resided at
Hillhampton House which dates from the 17th Century & even today
still retains some of its original Jacobean ceilings & mullion windows.
During Sir Brinton’s ownership 3BT93 was re-registered as HPO.... & as a
result was known in the family as Hippo!
