An unusual and rather attractive, original-bodied open tourer by Knibbs of Manchester. This is the only example by this coachbuilder that we have come across in our 20+ years of being in the business. Features such a fold flat windscreen, a full set of  sidescreens, twin side-mounted spare wheels, all add to the appeal, as do the impressive trays of tools, one under each front seat. Good all-round condition, sound and correct, and running nicely. Just re-trimmed in light tan leather, a colour that harmonises well with the Burgundy paintwork. Re-wired in the correct cloth-covered cable, and all in all, a very appealing car, driving well.

Chassis No. GZR3.                                     Reg No. HPA 591.                           £59,500.

Snippets: Bought by Frederick Keith Harvey-Samuel who lived at Monkswood, Hurtmore - the garden of which was designed by Gertrude Jekyll in 1912.  Monkswood is an excellent example of her use of native plants & much of the original garden remains intact. Major Frederick William Cundiff (2nd owner) served in both WWI & II & from  1944-1951 was a Member of Parliament.  In his free time he was a keen yachtsman being a member of both the Royal Mersey & the Royal Clyde Yacht Clubs, during the 1950s he had a permanent mooring laid for him just off Rhoscolyn Bay, Anglesey.  In 1962 he commissioned a 98ft Sailing Ketch “Southern Cross” which was built by Yarrow Shipbuilders & was powered by twin diesel Gardner engines.  During the 1960’s the Major was a Director of Chesters Brewery which later merged with Trefalls Brewery at which time he became Deputy Chairman.
