A ‘proper’ vintage 20hp, tall and upright with character. Converted to an estate car by Cockshoot’s in the 1930s, possibly used as an ambulance, and much later - probably in the 1980s - was converted back to the current six-light configuration. The history file, as well as a considerable number of invoices, old MoTs, correspondence, etc, also includes three old buff logbooks, including the original from 1926, which is very unusual. Features such as  correct nickel lamps, 20” wheels, including twin side-mounted spares, vertically divided windscreen, scuttle-mounted side lamps, etc, all add to the vintage charm. MoT tested until December 2010.

Chassis No. GOK49.                              Reg No. CJ 8878.                            £32,500.

Snippets: Owned by Lt Col George Basil Heywood TD, OBE.  The family firm was Able Heywood & Sons Ltd (1832-1932) publishers of plays, dramas, tourist guides etc.  In 1910 he purchased Caradoc Court in Ross-On-Wye which was inherited by his daughter Katie Gaze, a successful racehorse trainer.  Her winning horses included Eve Dawn, Cold Day & Honour Bound.  Caradoc Court was built in the 16th/17th Century by the Scudamores as a Sentinel House, in 1864 Elisha Caddick bought the house & it then became a “Principal Seat” with the house being extended in the Jacobean style with the addition of an Italian garden & balustraded terrace.  After a major fire in 1986 the house was restored to it’s former glory by Kim Brooker.
