An appealing, early lightweight ‘Weymann’ saloon, which was originally kept by Rolls-Royce and was used as a press car, being reviewed by ‘Autocar’ and ‘Motor’ in 1931.  In more recent times, the car has been subject to a good deal of renovation covering a period from the 1970’s to the 2000’s, but not much mileage. This work included A full engine overhaul, gearbox and rear axle rebuild, Shackle pins, kingpins, etc, etc. As a consequence, it is in good mechanical condition, and runs very well. The body has been modified and converted to a sedanca at some time, and would perhaps be better if reverted to a saloon.  Sensibly priced, and with lots of potential.

Chassis No. GSR14.                                Reg No. GH 2963.                         £22,500.

Snippets:  Cricket & Quakers.   Sold in 1932 as “Secondhand” to Eustace Bisgood a member of the  Somerset County Cricket Team as was his brother, Bertram.  Their father was Deputy Chief Constable for Somerset & father of 7 children!  Eustace & Bertram founded the Stockbrokers firm of Bisgood  & Bishop.  A later owner of GSR14 was Major J L Howell whose address was, between 1809 & 1820, the residence of Joseph Sturge V & his family – a leading Quaker family which had originated from Bristol .  In 1980 some 148 members of the Sturge family gathered in Bristol , the last such family meeting was in 1930, when Grace Sturge (now 90) had been present as had 8 other Sturge family members!
